Hanan Halimah

Hanan Halimah is a programme manager with over 10 years of experience leading human rights initiatives, focusing on supporting survivors of arbitrary detention, addressing gender-based violence, and working with families of the missing. She currently serves as Programme Manager at the Association of Detainees and the Missing of Sednaya Prison, where she oversees operational management, leads multidisciplinary teams, and builds partnerships with local and international organisations. Previously, Hanan held leadership roles at local and international NGOs, including Women Now for Development, where she managed the Turkey and Syria office, implementing survivor support programmes, advocacy campaigns, and strategic reports. She also served on the board of the Northern Syria Aid Fund, advocating for fair funding decisions that empower local, women-led organisations. Hanan has participated in international fellowships on transitional justice, including the Leaders for Democracy Fellowship at Syracuse University. Fluent in Arabic and English, she brings expertise in programme design, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement.
