Madaniya Member Organisations

Today, Madaniya is a collective that encompasses more than 240 organisations, spanning all sectors and geographical locations. Members of Madaniya are spread across all regions of Syria. They operate in neighbouring countries, as well as in Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States and Canada.

We continue to mobilise Syrian civic actors inside and outside Syria across all sectors and geographies.

  • Access Center for Human Rights (ACHR)

    The Access Centre for Human Rights (ACHR) is a non-profit founded by Syrian refugees in Lebanon in 2017 and registered in France in 2020. Led by professionals in law, human rights, and journalism, ACHR advocates for refugee rights, investigates violations, and promotes the rule of law, remaining independent and committed to the safe return of refugees.

  • Al-Ameen for Humanitarian Support


    Al-Ameen is a humanitarian organization in Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, Yemen, and Sudan, dedicated to transparent aid delivery. It conducts needs assessments, coordinates with organizations, and implements projects to fill critical gaps while promoting governance, human rights awareness, and civil society empowerment.

  • Aljumhuriya Collective

    AlJumhuriya.net, established in March 2012 by Syrian writers and academics, offers a platform for Syrians to share views on the revolution and conflict.
    It publishes commentary, reportage, essays, and podcasts to enhance understanding of Syria’s landscape. Committed to independence, it supports a democratic future and is unaffiliated with any political group.

  • Al-sharq News Network

    Al Sharq News is a media news outlet that monitors the most important events and developments related to the Syrian affair in general, and the Eastern region specifically “Deir ez-Zor, Al-Hasakah , and Raqqa”.
    They work on news articles, reports and news, opinion editorials, studies, opinion surveys, and interactive maps and pictures

  • Amal Healing and Advocacy Center

    The Amal Recovery and Advocacy Center (AHAC) is a women-led organization established in 2014 in Antakya, Turkey, supporting Syrian refugee women and survivors of violence.

    It empowers women facing psychological effects of violence and advocates for justice, equal rights, and an independent civil state in Syria.

  • Amal Organization


    Amal is a Syrian non-governmental, non-profit organization founded in early 2013 in the northern countryside of Homs. Officially registered in Gaziantep, Turkey, in 2014, it provides life-saving assistance, strengthens resilience, and advocates for the rights of vulnerable groups. The organization also offers recovery programs to help rebuild war-torn societies.

  • Analysis & Strategic Study Organization

    ASO is a non-profit group in Northeastern Syria & Kurdistan Region of Iraq, promoting human rights, freedom, and democracy. It enhances governance, peace-building, and conflict resolution, focusing on youth, women, and civil society. ASO established the NES NGO Platform with over 148 organizations and conducts initiatives for peace, dialogue, and inclusive governance.

  • Ashna for Development

    Ashna for Development is a non-profit in Al-Hasakah, Raqqa, and eastern Deir ez-Zor, dedicated to community development and empowering children and women.
    It promotes civil peace, democratic values, human rights, and civil society, aiming for a community free from violence and discrimination, where all live with dignity and equal opportunities.

  • Association of Detainees and Missing Persons in Saydnaya Prison (ADMSP)

    Founded in 2017 by survivors and families of Seydnayah Prison detainees, the association seeks truth and justice for politically detained individuals.

    It documents detainee information, supports families of the missing, and raises awareness locally and internationally.

  • Association of Victims of Chemical Weapons (AVCW)

    AVCW, formed by survivors and families impacted by Bashar al-Assad’s chemical weapons use, aims to hold perpetrators accountable, support investigations, and raise global awareness.

    It advocates for victims' rights, honors their memory, and collaborates on efforts to prohibit chemical weapons.

  • Badael


    Founded in 2013, Badael is a rights-based organization committed to fostering transformative justice and sustainable peace in Syria.

    It supports grassroots civic action and works on building a pluralistic, rights-based society through research, advocacy, and capacity building.

  • Bahar Organization

    Founded in 2012 by medical professionals who fled Syria, Bahar Organization delivers support in northern Syria and Iraq to address the growing humanitarian needs.

    Guided by international human rights standards, it promotes interfaith collaboration and works through development, humanitarian aid, and advocacy.

  • Basmeh & Zeitooneh

    Founded in September 2012, Basmeh & Zeitooneh is a refugee-led organization addressing the needs of displaced and host communities in Syria.

    It focuses on peacebuilding, social cohesion, civil society empowerment, food security, education, and women's rights to help people regain dignity and control.

  • Baytna

    Baytna is a non-profit organization to empower Syrian civil society to achieve democratic transition.

    It establishes neutral spaces, promotes transparency, advocates for citizens' rights while fostering knowledge development and active citizenship. It works to build a democratic society defends rights, channels interests.

  • Bercav

    Founded on March 12, 2013, in Kobani, Bercav is a non-profit dedicated to democratic development & public interest.

    It publishes "Bercav" newspaper, magazine, shares studies, research on democracy & civil society via social media. It organizes workshops on journalism, political discourse, social harmony.

  • Bina

    Bina, founded in 2014 and based in Istanbul, is a non-profit organization focused on community development for Syrians. Announced in January 2015, it empowers institutions, youth, and families through educational, social, and administrative programs to help individuals realize their potential.

  • Caesar Families

    CFA was founded in February 2018 in Berlin by families of victims of torture and forced disappearance in Syrian prisons.

    They identified their relatives in the leaked Caesar photos and unite to demand truth, justice, and restitution for the victims.

  • Center for Civil Society and Democracy

    CCSD founded in 2011, is an independent non-profit with branches in the US, Turkey, and the Netherlands.
    It aims to foster a just society through peace, human rights, and equality, assisting organizations and individuals in promoting these values.

  • Center of Chemical Violations Documentation and Studies (CVDCR)

    CVDCR works to achieve justice and hold criminals accountable, standing by survivors and supporting them psychologically and morally. They do this by advancing research on chemical weapons use, documenting violations, advocating for change. 

  • Citizens for Secure and Safe America

    C4SSA promotes a free, democratic, secular Syria, believing it will enhance American safety. Its mission is to foster democratic change, allowing Syrians to live freely. It advocates for civilians affected by conflict, aligning U.S. interests with democratic values of liberty, equality.

  • Civil Administration Center ( SYCAC )

    SYCAC is a non-profit organization founded in Turkey in 2012. It aims to increase civic spaces by empowering communities, protecting marginalized groups, and enhancing women's leadership in peace processes and recovery. SYCAC promotes democracy, human rights, neutrality, transparency, diversity, responsibility, and equity.

  • Colors for Development&Relief

    It operates in many sectors including protection, community cohesion, peacebuilding, livelihoods, agriculture, education, basic services, and relief services in Raqqa.
    They work on various projects including encouraging clean streets and environments, humanitarian aid, and human rights defending. 

  • Creative Memory

    Founded in 2013, Creative Memory is a digital platform to document and archive Syrian art, culture, & creative expression during times of revolution and war.
    It serves as a growing archive that collects stories & experiences of Syrian people, emphasizing their social, political, & cultural resilience.

  • Damma-Hug


    Non-profit organisation founded in 2011 by women for peace, offers support to communities, especially women and children. It promotes equal access to resources, peacebuilding, humanitarian coexistence, social stability, seeks sustainable peace through women's leadership, participation in societal change.

  • DAR


    DAR is a volunteer team in Syria and Iraq dedicated to protecting civilians affected by war and providing essential support. They educate local communities, empower women, protect children, promote community initiatives. Their focus includes early recovery, governance, peacebuilding, gender equality, food security, and protection.

  • Dawlaty

    Dawlaty is a non-profit foundation committed to nonviolence and peaceful resistance, working towards a democratic transition in Syria that upholds human rights, equality, and diversity. It empowers civil society, particularly youth, by building civic values and life skills for active community participation.

  • Deirna for Development

    Deirna for Development is an NGO in Der Ezzor that addresses conflict gaps and supports stability. They launch community projects focused on educational empowerment for children, training community leaders on social cohesion, and conducting awareness activities.

  • Democratic Republic Studies Center

    Democratic Republic Studies Center, founded by academics, analyzes socio-economic, cultural, and political conditions in the SWANA region, focusing on Syria. It conducts research and policy analysis on the impacts of conflicts on public life, aiming to address freedoms, civil rights, and living conditions.

  • DemoS

    Non-profit organization founded on October 1, 2019, building on work from 2013. Based in Qamishli, with branches in Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor, it seeks to foster a democratic society in Northeast Syria by supporting civil society, human rights, women's issues, instilling democratic values, justice, civil peace in local communities.

  • Eastern Mediterranean Institute

    It is a non-governmental organization provide studies, trainings, project development concerned with the comprehensive advancement of society in its different aspects. They ensure the respect, support of gender balance in the community and projects they develop. 

  • Enab Baladi

    Enab Baladi, founded in 2011, is an independent nonprofit Syrian media organization. It offers 24-hour news on multilingual websites and publishes a weekly newspaper covering Syrian political and social news. The organization hosts events and provides research, interviews, investigations, and editorial opinions on topics related to Syria's politics, society, and economy.

  • Ettijahat

    Founded in 2011, Ettijahat is a cultural organization promoting independent culture in the Arab world. It empowers artists and cultural entrepreneurs, fosters social change, and builds relationships between culture, art, and society. The organization supports young researchers, promotes art on regional and international platforms, and aims to make culture more accessible.

  • Fajjet Khuraq Atelier


    Fajjet Khuraq is a community initiative inside of Syria aiming to keep alive the traditional techniques used in making rag rugs in the way that the previous generations used to make.
    They hosts regular workshops to encourage other members of the community to make handmade rugs and other coverings using looms or hooks.

  • Families for Freedom

    Women-led movement of Syrian families opposing enforced disappearance and arbitrary detention by the regime and all conflict parties. They aim to mobilize public pressure for compliance with their demands and will not cease until every last Syrian is freed. The movement will expand to include all families with detained or missing members, regardless of religion, political beliefs, or ethnicity.

  • Fariq Sadaa Alshababii

    A youth team concerned with raising the level of social and political awareness among young people. It provides a safe space for expressing ideas and opinions. They provide training to the youth in northwestern Syria on various capacity building opportunities for civil society work, relief operations, research, events on enhancing the spaces for Syrian civil society. 

  • Free Syrian Students Union


    Free Syrian Students Union is a union representing students in the liberated northern universities.

    They undertake various activities supporting the students in the liberated north including events, panel discussions, and meetings. 

  • Ghaith Association for Relief and Development

    Ghaith Volunteer Team is a group of youth focused on community issues, advocating for causes, and solving problems.
    They promote social cohesion through projects like protests, relief efforts, training, and education, including a virtual school.

  • Gharsah Association

    Gharsah Association aids 240 children and 500 women yearly, empowering Syrian refugees in Lebanon by helping children regain academic skills and supporting women's roles in families. They also implement emergency projects during crises like COVID-19, winter floods.

  • Global Organization for Civil Society Advancement

    Founded in northern Syria, GLOCA is a Syrian NGO focused on providing technology & education to refugees. Their goal is to become the largest capacity-building and youth organization, offering training and volunteer opportunities for over 8,000 young people.

  • Hamzet Wasel for Social Development

    Hamzet Wasel for Social Development provides a safe environment for Syrian refugees to adapt, achieve positive social and psychological outcomes, and reduce PTSD. Its project, Happiness Again, was founded in 2014 and is based in Amman, Jordan.

  • Hand in Hand for Aid and Development - HIHFAD

    HIHFAD operates in Syria's hardest-hit areas, rebuilding essential resources and infrastructure. They help communities regain skills and dignity, supporting families to recover and create sustainable livelihoods, prioritizing vulnerable groups such as children, the disabled, the elderly, and female-headed households.

  • Het Syrische Comité

    The Syrian Committee, since the conflict's start, promotes a free Syria by highlighting the humanitarian disaster through media, demonstrations, and events. They support war victims and refugees, foster dialogue among opposition groups, and lobby the Dutch government while working with other organizations in the Netherlands.

  • Hdf Organization


    Hdf Organization is a humanitarian nonprofit organization based in Raqqa that works on community awareness through trainings and capacity building workshops for young people.
    It also provides community aid such as distributing clothes to school children and other projects with the aim to create an active and stable community for the future. 

  • Home Revival Initiative

    The Home Revival Initiative promotes democracy and equal citizenship in Syria, aiming to restore the Syrian people's civilizational role. They support the Geneva 1 statement and international resolutions for a peaceful, Syrian-led political solution and transitional phase, focusing on uniting national forces for a modern Syria.

  • Hooz Center for Social Development


    Hooz, established in 2016, is an independent non-profit cultural center in the northern and eastern countryside of Aleppo. It aims to empower the community, especially youth, by enhancing democratic practices, citizenship, and public participation, while raising awareness among decision-makers to address local needs effectively.

  • House of Citizenship


    The House of Citizenship Organization is a Syrian organization in Raqqa aimed at providing an interactive space that contributes to enhancing the role of community dialogue, capacity building, developing the role of civil society, spreading the values of citizenship and democracy, and maintaining civil peace.

  • Huquqyat


    Huquqyat is a women-led organization of lawyers working to make justice processes in Syria more inclusive of the gendered impacts of international crimes.

    They focus on promoting gender-sensitive approaches in legal work and aiming to influence global justice frameworks.

  • Hurras Network


    Syrian Child Protection Network was founded in 2012 to provide urgent protection for Syrian children affected by the war. It became an official organization in 2015, with operations across Syria & Turkey. It focuses on protecting children from the impact of the conflict, operating in various regions, including Idlib & Aleppo.

  • International Humanitrian Relief

    Founded by Syrian expatriate businessmen & doctors to assist vulnerable groups like orphans & widows. Their mission expanded to support refugees and host communities, with offices in Lebanon, Turkey, Erbil, and U.S. They focus on housing, water sanitation, response, health, education projects.

  • Judy Organization for Relief and Development (JORD)

    JORD is a national, non-profit organization founded in 2012, focus on humanitarian relief, education, livelihood, child protection, and supporting missing Syrians, while also enhancing community development through educational services & awareness programs.

  • Jusoor Studies Center

    Established in 2016 to provide credible, systematic research on Syria, filling the gap in reliable information amidst the ongoing conflict. The organization produces objective, detailed research for policymakers and facilitates communication between local communities & decision-makers..

  • Justice for Life


    Justice for Life is a non-profit Syrian organization focused on human rights. It publishes reports on violations, conducts workshops, and raises awareness.

    JFL advocates for survivors and victims' families to enhance political and civil participation in communities.

  • Justice for Peace

    JFP, established in 2013 and registered in Turkey, supports alternative institutions from the Syrian uprising by providing legal and administrative expertise to foster a just society based on law, justice, democracy, and human rights. Its team comprises 50 lawyers, judges, and advisors across Syria and refugee-hosting countries.

  • Justice Paths

    Justice Paths, founded in 2021, is an independent human rights organization created by activists and researchers in Syria and migration countries. It focuses on documenting human rights violations, raising awareness, and promoting justice through advocacy, training, and legal documentation, aiming to contribute to peace and security.

  • Karam Foundation

    Karam Foundation, founded in 2007, serves displaced Syrians in Turkey, the U.S., and Jordan. They focus on empowering Syrian youth by providing mentorship, innovative education, and community support, helping them shape their future and redefine their identity. Their Karam House center offers a space for Syrians to connect, learn, and thrive.

  • Kesh Malek

    Kesh Malek believes in Syrians' right to freedom, dignity, and justice, viewing the Syrian revolution as key to fighting dictatorship and extremism. They encourage active participation in building society and focus on creating cultural and social spaces that highlight national identity and rights. Their work includes advocacy, community cohesion, social change, gender equity, and human rights.

  • Lawyers and Doctors for Human Rights

    LDHR is a grassroots NGO focused on supporting civilians in crisis, aiming to stop human rights violations and assist victims in seeking justice and rehabilitation. Formed by lawyers and physicians, specializes in documenting torture, sexual and GBV through medical-legal expertise. The organization is rapidly expanding its activities and expertise to promote justice & human rights.

  • Local Administration Councils Unit

    Local Councils Unit, established in February 2013 by Syrian experts, focuses on empowering local communities to manage their affairs and resources through effective local governance.

    Initially part of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, it later evolved into a non-governmental, independent organization.

  • Local Development and Small-Projects Support (LDSPS)

    LDSPS aims to assist Syrians in their pursuit of freedom and dignity through local projects and activities.

    They focus on raising awareness about violations, supporting civil society organizations, improving public services, and promoting local participation across regions such as North-Eastern Aleppo, Greater Idlib, and Ghouta.

  • Mari Organization

    Mari is a non-profit Syrian institution dedicated to research on political, economic, social, military, and security issues in Syria.

    It offers consultations, training, and scientific research to inform decision-makers and institutions, aiming to provide solutions and enhance human resource development through partnerships and strategic recommendations.

  • MARS (Multiple Action to Rebuild Society)

    MARS is a neutral, non-profit civil society organization founded in 2012 by activists committed to justice, democracy, and human rights. Registered in Turkey, with branches in Syria and other countries. MARS aims to protect civilians, support local communities, promote peace, and empower children through capacity-building initiatives and knowledge sharing.

  • MedGlobal

    Established in 2017, is a humanitarian NGO offering emergency health programs, resilience support to communities impacted by war, disasters. Comprising diverse healthcare professionals, they collaborate with local communities to meet health needs, provide training, and deploy medical volunteers and supplies across North & Latin America, Africa, MENA, Europe, Southeast Asia.

  • Midmar

    MIDMAR focuses on empowering communities by enhancing social capital and mobility. Their projects aim to better utilize resources, improve skills, and foster collective values, while transforming community relationships into participatory ones.
    They achieve this through three main programs: community empowerment, economic empowerment and innovation, and civil society empowerment.

  • Molham Team

    Founded in 2012 by Syrian university students, the initiative started as a volunteer effort to aid Syrian refugees. Now, with over 300 volunteers and about 70 employees, it operates globally, providing food, shelter, and medical assistance. The nonprofit has offices in Turkey, Germany, Sweden, and Canada, focused on creating a non-political framework for humanitarian work.

  • Multi aid Programs

    MAPs, established in 2013 in Lebanon, provides health, relief, and education to marginalized communities, including Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese and Palestinians. With 326 volunteers, MAPs empowers displaced Syrians who actively participate in designing and implementing initiatives, enhancing their capacity and promoting community engagement.

  • Najoon

    Inspired by Syrian prison survivors, Najoon established the Al-Ma'arri project to reconnect them with their homeland. It envisions a free, democratic, and pluralistic Syria, emphasizing resilience over submission.

  • Multifaith Alliance

    Founded in 2013, the Multifaith Alliance (MFA) is the largest interfaith response to the Syrian crisis, with over 100 partners. Delivering food, medical supplies, and WASH projects while advocating for humane refugee policies and regional partnerships.

  • Naseej

    Naseej is a nonprofit organization that enhances civil society competencies and builds local networks through training on women's empowerment, discrimination, and discussions on citizenship and the feminist movement.

  • Nextep Organization

    Founded in 2021 in Qamishli, is a non-governmental, non-profit group led by young men and women who have experienced the Syrian war firsthand. It focuses on development, peacebuilding, and information to foster a peaceful, evolving society.

  • Nihna Quaduha


    Ninhna Quaduha is a group that spread awareness, shares, and coordinates local initiatives for humanitarian response and women's rights advocacy. They also organise local events to these ends. 

  • Nuon for Peacebuilding


    Nuon for Peacebuilding is a non-profit organization founded in 2012 by Lebanese and Syrian youth united against war. They aim to end civilian suffering from violence, advocate for peace, and promote human rights and non-violence.

  • Observatory of Political and Economic Networks

    The Observatory of Political and Economic Networks is a group of Syrian and Arab youth aiming to connect information and knowledge about political, economic, social, security, and military actors in Syria, contributing to a more just society.

  • Olive Branch

    Olive Branch is a non-profit supporting vulnerable Syrian communities. Based in Turkey, it focuses on education, protection, livelihoods, and women's empowerment, partnering with international agencies and supported by donors and NGOs.

  • Orange Organization

    Orange Organization aids local communities in crisis recovery and building sustainable solutions through humanitarian efforts. They focus on capacity development, education, livelihoods, and protection programs.

  • Organisation Alamman

    Part of the Justice and Sustainable Development Organisation, empowers North Syrian youth. It trains women and girls and conducts relief operations in camps. A major project involves building sustainable houses in refugee camps to replace tents.

  • Oxford Syria Society

    The Oxford Syria Society is dedicated to the development of a space that brings Syrians together and engages the wider Oxford community with Syrian society, cultures, peoples, and politics in the University of Oxford.

  • PÊL - Civil Waves

    PEL – Civil Waves, founded in 2011 from ASKYA, has initiated various projects such as Ara News Agency and Hevi Relief Association for aid in Sere Kaniye/Ras al-Ain. In 2013, it established Mandela House in Qamishli to support civil society.

  • Physicians Across Continents Turkey

    Physicians Across Continents Turkey, established in 2012, provides high-quality healthcare services in Syria and Turkey through various relief projects. In 2016, their mission expanded to Yemen.

  • Pro Justice

    A non-profit dedicated to holding war criminals and human rights violators in the Middle East and Syria accountable. It collaborates with similar groups to raise awareness against impunity, emphasizing that justice is essential for reconciliation.

  • Release Me

    A civil organization founded in 2017 in Afrin, aiming to create a cohesive Syrian community focused on justice and feminist peace through women's active participation. It offers a cultural space for women's creative expression.

  • Research for Health System Strengthening in Syria

    The R4HSSS project examines health systems in northwest Syria, developing early recovery plans. It emphasizes health services, education, governance, digital health solutions, and localization, collaborating with KCL, UOSSM, SPHN, SyRG, and IHD.

  • Rethink Rebuild Society

    Rethink Rebuild Society (RR) is a Manchester charity dedicated to improving the lives of refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants, especially Syrians in the UK. Established informally in 2011, officially registered in 2013, and recognized as a charity in 2018, RR operates through employees and volunteers, supported by donations.

  • ‏Rising for Freedom Magazine

    Rise for Freedom Magazine, or Freedomraise, is a semi-monthly publication in Syria and refugee camps. It serves as a platform for youth to express themselves and challenge traditions, while supporting Syria’s fight for freedom and documenting experiences in the ongoing struggle.

  • Sada Aljanub

    A civil media and participatory platform focused on social research, it aims to enhance writing, arts, and discourse rooted in citizenship values and Syrian identity. Its mission supports peace-building and social cohesion in southern Syria, believing that Horan's people can overcome challenges together for a unified Syrian identity.

  • Sadad Humanitarian Organization

    SADAD Humanitarian Organization is a Syrian non-profit supporting the community with dignity. It operates independently, upholding international humanitarian principles. In partnership with the UN Humanitarian Fund, it prioritizes anti-corruption and long-term aid for vulnerable populations.

  • Sakan Housing Communities


    A non-profit dedicated to affordable housing for low-income communities in Syria, combining humanitarian efforts with market solutions to ensure lasting affordability. Advocating for housing as a legal right, Sakan allows families to build equity.

  • Sawa for Development & Aid

    SAWA, founded in December 2011, is a Civil Society Organization supporting Syrian families displaced in northern Lebanon. It advocates for dignity and freedom, focusing on vulnerable communities, particularly displaced persons and refugees.

  • SLDP (Official Registered Name)

    SLDP envisions a future with upholding Syrian human rights. Its two main units are the International Law Support Unit (ILSU), which empowers NGOs led by victims and women against impunity, and the HRBU, assisting in holding corporate perpetrators accountable for human rights abuses in Syria.

  • Soas Syria Society

    The SOAS Syria Society is a student initiative that brings Syrian culture to campus life. It promotes discussions on Syria's political, cultural, and economic issues through film screenings, panels, and cultural events, engaging students from undergraduate to postgraduate levels.

  • Sobh Cultural Team


    Sobh Cultural Team is a group based in Azaz which aims and believes in literature and arts as a very important way to express ourselves. As a result, they organise events such as art exhibits, poetry nights, chess competitions, musical concerts, and other events. 

  • Souriyat Across Borders

    SAB is a women-led charity founded in 2012 by five Syrian women as an emergency response to the humanitarian crisis to meet the fundamental needs of Syrian refugees. They work on emergency relief, livelihood, education, and women's empowerment in Jordan, Syria and the UK. 

  • Souryana Al Amal

    The Souriyana Al Amal Team is an independent women's group in northern Syria, especially Azaz and rural Akhtarin, focused on raising legal awareness among women.
    They educate women about their rights to improve their societal status and prevent exploitation and violence.

  • SYE Initiative (Fka Syrian Youth Empowerment)
