Farouq Habib

Farouq Habib is a founding member of the White Helmets, serving as the Group’s Deputy General Manager and the Executive Director of its external offices. Prior to the Syrian uprising, he was a senior executive in the banking sector. With the onset of the revolution in ٢٠١١, Farouq played a leading role in civil society’s response to the crisis, co-founding and supporting grassroots initiatives and local organisations focused on humanitarian relief. Since the establishment of the White Helmets, he has co-managed international support for the organisation and led its accountability and transitional justice programmes. Farouq holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Damascus University, a Master’s in Banking and Finance from Bordeaux University IV in France, and a Doctorate in Business Administration from the European University in Switzerland. Today, he continues to advance civilian protection, peacebuilding, and justice efforts across Syria.
