Oussama Chourbagi
Oussama Chourbagi is a Syrian-French humanitarian expert, peacebuilder, and civil society advocate, born in Daraya in 1979 and exiled to France in 2003 after being imprisoned by the Assad regime. He co-founded the Syrian Non-Violence Movement and the Syrian National Council, serving as its elected Secretary-General. In 2013, Oussama founded the Multiple Action to Rebuild Society (MARS), a Syrian NGO promoting democracy, International Humanitarian Law, and a culture of non-violence. With over 14 years of experience in humanitarian response, conflict transformation, and peacebuilding, he leads field programmes and educational initiatives to foster social cohesion and sustainable development. Oussama has served as a consultant to the Syrian Interim Government and several international institutions, including the Fondation de France, and has collaborated with the World Council of Churches to support reconciliation efforts. His work bridges grassroots activism, research, and international advocacy, focusing on advancing justice and peace in conflict-affected regions.
