The Syrian Center for Policy Research has issued a significant and pioneering research paper titled "The Politicisation of Religious, Ethnic, and Gender Identities in Syria." This study, which is part of the second phase of a multifaceted research project, addresses a vital issue concerning how identity is politicised within the context of the Syrian conflict. The paper delves deeply into the sectarian, ethnic, and gender aspects of identity politics, analysing how these diverse identities have been exploited during the conflict. The analytical framework for this study was developed based on reviewed literature and contributions from the Development Policy Forum, focusing on development concepts and political economy through a participatory approach. This project is implemented in cooperation between the University of Vienna, the Research Center for Alternative Development, and the Syrian Center for Policy Research.
