9th Brussels Conference on “Standing with Syria"

Madaniya and a delegation from Syrian civil society participated in the 9th Brussels Conference: Standing with Syria. Among the key points raised in the intervention of the Syrian civil society delegation were:

• The importance of committing to supporting Syria’s political transition by reinforcing the principles of justice, accountability, and the rule of law.
• The importance of an independent and active civic space to ensure a genuine democratic transformation.
• Lifting of sanctions that hinder the reconstruction process and supporting a fair and sustainable economic and social recovery.
• The need to strengthen a comprehensive transitional justice process that guarantees victims' rights and holds perpetrators of crimes and violations accountable.
