Bakri Zeneldeen

Bakri Zeneldeen, a Syrian human rights defender with over a decade of experience in Syrian civil society, is a passionate advocate for justice, democracy, and human dignity. Starting in 2013, Bakri worked with international non-governmental organisations (INGOs) before transitioning to Syrian Civil society organisations in 2015 and up to the present time. Prior to his tenure at Madaniya, Mr. Zeneldeen served as the Local Partnerships and Implementation Manager of LDSPS (Local Development and Small-Projects Support), a prominent Syrian NGO that works towards promoting accountable governance in Syria. 
Over the years, Bakri has played a pivotal role in various organisations, with a particular focus on the promotion and protection of human rights in Syria. Between 2018-2019, Bakri served as Vice President of the Shaml Coalition, a Syrian civil society coalition that works to support the rights and freedoms of the Syrian people. In recognition of his leadership and dedication to the cause, Bakri was elected as Chairman of the Shaml Coalition for 2022-2023 and as representative of the Shamel Alliance to the Syrian Civil Society Networks platform SCNP for same period. Prior to this, Mr. Zeneldeen had held several management positions with various Syrian civil society institutions inside Syria and Turkey.
Throughout his career, Bakri has shown an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of Syrians, even in the face of immense adversity. His work has been instrumental in raising awareness about the ongoing human rights violations in Syria and advocating for democracy, accountability, and justice for victims of abuse. Bakri's experience, expertise, and dedication make him a highly respected and influential figure in Syrian civil society.
Mr. Zeneldeen holds a bachelor’s degree in tele-communications engineering from the University of Aleppo and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in political science from Abant Izzet Baysal Üniversitesi in Turkey.
