Jalal Al-Hamad

Jalal Al-Hamad is a Syrian human rights defender, co-founder, and Executive Director of Justice for Life, a leading Syrian organisation specialising in human rights documentation and transitional justice since 2015. He has extensive experience in capacity-building for individuals and organisations on human rights, good governance, and countering violent extremism. Jalal has served as a consultant to several Syrian and international organisations, designing initiatives that strengthen accountability and support victims’ rights. He holds a Law degree from Damascus University and has been a member of the Syrian Bar Association since 2011. Jalal’s work focuses on aligning support for Syria with community needs, leading programmes that foster social cohesion, political transition, and sustainable peace, while amplifying the voices of victims in shaping a comprehensive vision for justice.
