Dr. Mazen Kewara
Dr. Mazen Kewara is the Regional Director of the Syrian American Medical Society, one of the leading medical and humanitarian organisations in the Middle East. He holds a medical degree and a Master’s in Vascular Surgery from Damascus University. When the Syrian conflict erupted in 2011, he began treating victims of violence before relocating to Turkey in 2012, where he established the society’s office. Dr. Kewara has led the expansion of cross-border healthcare programmes, hospital support, and training for hundreds of doctors and nurses in Syria. He also contributes to documenting human rights violations against healthcare workers. Representing the organisation in the Geneva talks and various advocacy delegations, he currently oversees the society’s regional offices across the Middle East and drives strategies to support medical professionals and humanitarian responses in crisis-affected areas
