Walaa Alloush is a human rights activist who believes that real change begins with women and their meaningful participation. With over 14 years of experience in advancing peace processes and managing civil society programs, she specializes in peacebuilding and civic education. She currently serves as Syria Programs Director and Gender Advisor at Skak Organization, and holds membership in the Women's Advisory Board (WAB) of the UN Special Envoy's Office for Syria, as well as the Young Women Peacemakers Network supported by UN Women. Driven by her conviction that civil society is the backbone of any genuine transformation, and that change must begin at the community level, Walaa has co-founded and led a number of local initiatives and bodies, including the Syrian Peacebuilding Club. She has facilitated sensitive dialogues across Syrian geographies and developed training curricula aimed at empowering local communities and strengthening their role in driving the change Syria needs.
